Born Oct. 16, 1931, in Harrodsburg, he was the son of the late James E. Hines and Mary L. Bradshaw Hines Chenault. He was a graduate of West Side High School, a veteran of the Navy, a retired employee of Corning Inc. of Harrodsburg, and a member of St. Peter AME Church. Survivors include a son, Craig L. Hines of Campbellsville; three daughters, Frances Yates Davidson and Kellie G. Napier, both of Harrodsburg, and Robin R. Hines of Campbellsville; a brother, E.P. Reed of Harrodsburg; a sister, Bessie V. Henderson of Harrodsburg; four grandchildren; and a great-grandchild Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at St. Peter AME Church by the Rev. Jason R. Curry. Burial, with military rites, will be in Maple Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Fred Bottoms, Glenn Walker, Samuel Bess, James Bryant Jr., James Boyd and Norman Bartleson. Honorary pallbearers are James Yeast, Gary Walker, Andy Harris and Leon Steele. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the church and prior to the service on Wednesday.
