Deed Bk A, p 40, 41 This Indenture made this Twenty fourth day of August in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety four between John HELM and Sally his wife of the County of Washington and State of Kentucky of the one part and Joseph HOBBS of the County of Nelson and State afforesaid of the other part witnesseth that the said John HELM and Sally his wife for and in consideration of the sum of five shillings sterling to them in hand paid the rect whereof is hereby acknowledged have Bargained and Sold and by these presents do give grant Bargain and sell unto the said Joseph HOBBS a Certain tract or parcel of land containing one hundred acres by survey bearing date the Eighteenth day of May One thousand seven hundred and Eighty three and Pattented the Second day of December one thousand seven hundred and Eighty five lying and be in the County of Harden and State afforesaid one grove in the Barrens about five or six Miles Eastwardly from six Mile Creek on the formertaries leading from HARDINS Settlement ______ Valley and bounded as followeth towit. Beginning at two Cherry trees and Spanish oak on the south side of ___ ____ thence North thirty Eight degrees East one hundred poles in the Barrens thence south fifty two degrees East one hundred and sixty poles thence south thirty eight degrees west one hundred poles thence North fifty two degrees west one hundred and sixty poles to the Beginning with its appurtenances To have and to hold the said tract or parcel of land with its appurtenances the said Joseph HOBBS and his Heirs forever and the said John HELM and Sally his wife for themselves and their Heirs do futher covenant and agree to and with the said Joseph HOBBS his Heirs and assigns that they will Warrant and defend the afforesaid tract or parcel of land with itw appurtenances to the said Joseph HOBBS his Heirs and assigns against themselves and their Heirs and against every other person claiming by or under them but not against any other person or persons whatsoever In witness whereof the said John HELM and Sally his wife have hereunto set their hands and affixed their seals the day and year first above written John HELM [seal] Sally HELM [seal] At a Court held for Hardin County on Wednesday the twenty seventh of August one thousand seven hundred and ninety four the preceding Deed was acknowledged and ordered to be Recorded.
