To: KYF Subject: Holtzclaw.Nannie.1944.Casey.NEWS Has Three Sons In Service December 6 1944 Casey County KyArchives News THE CASEY COUNTY NEWS,1944 Mrs. Nannie Holtzclaw, of the Decatur section, is the mother of three fine young men who are serving their country as members of the armed forces. Tech. 5th grade Cecil B. Holtzclaw, entered the service March 1st, 1940 and trained with the 1st Armored Division, arriving overseas in the early stages of the war. He trained in North Ireland and since that time has participated in several principal engagements. He has spent three months in the hospital recovering from wounds recieved while in combat. Latest information is to the effect that he is getting along fine and hopes to be home soon. Another son, Cpl.Alvis G. Holtzclaw, entered the service April 2,1942. He is also across and has seen combat duty. He is anxious to finish the job and return home. The younger son, Frye Holtzclaw, entered the service September 4, 1944. After spending two months at Camp Atterbury, Ind. he was transfered to Arkansas. All are fine young men and this paper shares with the mother her pride in having three sons in the service of their country. The three star service flag in her window is looked upon by the mother tenderly and anxiously and everyone knows they are serving their country honorably and faithfully. Mrs. Holtzclaw also informs us that her father was a soldier and the mother has every right to be proud of the patriotic record of the family.
