BIO: HOPE, Thomas P., s/o James & Abigail Hope History of Pike & Dubois Counties, Indiana; Chicago Goodspeed Bros. & Co., Publishers; 1885 Dubois County, Harbison Twp, page 660 THOMAS P. HOPE is a son of James and Abigail Hope, who were natives of Kentucky. The father was born November 9, 1789, and was a farmer by occupation, and after coming to Indiana served as justice of the peace until his death, a period of twenty years. His wife died June 2, 1863. Our subject was born February 15, 1820, in Dubois County, Ind. May 29, 1849, he married Nancy Harris of Dubois County. Their union was blessed with six children--two sons and four daughters: Helen M., wife of J.A. Chrisman, of Jasper, Ind.; Emily A., wife of Lyman Curry; Laura, Erastus R. Lovicy and Thomas P. Thomas received as good a common school education as could be obtained in the schools of his boyhood. By hard work and economy he has become a well to do and influential farmer. He and family belong to the United Brethren and Christian Churches. In politics he is a Democrat and has held the office of trustee for one year.
