Chicago, 1886 ALEXANDER HUTCHINSON, insurance and real estate broker of Mount Vernon, Ind., was born in Gallatin County, Ky., September 22, 1847, and is one of seven children born to John Hutchinson and Lydia Ann Fuller, natives of Connecticut and Kentucky, respectively. The father, who was a hatter and bookbinder by trade, followed these combined occupations early in life. He was married and raised his family in Kentucky, and moved to Indiana about 1850. Two years later he removed to Illinois, where he resided on a farm until his death in 1869. Alexander was raised on a farm in Illinois, and secured a fair education in the English branches. He followed the occupation of teaching from 1866 to 1871 in Illinois, and then came to Posey County and continued that vocation until 1879, meeting with the best success. In 1879 he established his present business in Mount Vernon, and has remained there ever since. He was married to Parthenia Conlin, a native of the county, in 1876. They have two children named Thomas and John. Mr. Hutchinson is a stanch [sic] Republican in politics, a member of the I.O.O.F., and a prosperous business man of the town. His wife is a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church.
