Born October 22, 1934, Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, Manford Lee and Minnie Ethel (Lewis) Ison and baby sister, Jean Ison. He is survived by his close friend and adopted by heart, sister, Connie Lewis; nephew, Scottie Lewis, and grandchildren, Lacy Lewis Huffman, Ethan Conner Lewis, Logan Price Huffman and Jessie James Lewis. He also leaves a special friend, Timothy Cantrell, as well as numerous cousins, and friends. Wayne was a devoted son and made caring for his widowed mother his life’s priority. He attended the Newcombe Valley Enterprise Baptist Church, Isonville, Ky. Wayne was employed by Carson Hays & Associates Oil Company for over 30 years. He loved the freedom of working outside, often walking ten miles a day along his oil route, well into his 70’s. Weekends would often find him visiting family and friends throughout the valley. He loved to watch old movies and bluegrass music, which he listened to as often as he could. Wayne was known to all as a lover of animals, and had a gentle way in caring for them. He had several dogs and especially loved his cats. He often had a camera on hand as he traveled the woods on his oil route to take pictures of the wild animals in their habitat, and was particularly proud of his photographs of fresh tracks made by a black bear. Wayne was faithful and loved his adopted family and they loved him very much. He also loved his extended family, taking time to spend with those visiting from out of state, and always making them welcome as they came “back home”. He will be greatly missed throughout the valley, as well as in the hearts and homes of all those that knew and loved him. The relatives would like to thank his adopted sister, Connie Lewis, for her years of compassionate service and love while taking care of Wayne and the family and friends who have provided love and support. Visitation will be held Thursday, October 25, 2012, 11-2 pm. at the Lewis & Ferguson Funeral Home, Sandy Hook, Kentucky, with funeral services following visitation at 2:00 pm. Brother Mike Adkins, will be officiating. Burial will follow the service at the Ben Barker Cemetery, Isonville, Kentucky. Pall Bearers will be Scottie Lewis, P.J. Eldridge, Randy Gum, Timothy Cantrell, Chris Sloas, Stevie Newell and Terry Sloas.
