Licking This Indenture made this 24th day of February one Thousand Eight hundred and forty seven, between Henry Neal and Martha Neal his wife of the first part of the State of Kentucky and County of Nicholas and James C Jackson of the County of Bath and State aforesaid witnesseth That the parties of the first part for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred and four dollars and forty cents to them in hand paid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged: hath granted bargained and sold and by these presents doth grant bargain sell and confirm unto the said James C. Jackson his heirs and assigns that tract or parcel of land situate and being in the County of Nicholas on the water of Main Licking River containing Thirteen acres and Eight poles and bounded as follows to wit, Begining at a forked Beech on the bank of Licking corner to John Berry-Thence S 39 W. 13.4 poles to a small beech. Thence N 4 E 50 poles to a small beech and Elm Sapling on the South side of a small hollow Thence N 58 degrees 30' W 14.3 poles to a set stone Thence N.15 degrees 30' E 56 poles to a stone on the North side of a deep hollow in George Floras line. Thence with his line S.50 E. 35.4 poles to two Sugar trees and Dogwood on the bank of the River. Thence up the same S.20 degrees 30' W. 62.6 poles to a Buckeye stump. Thence south 21.5 poles to the place of the Beginning. Together with all and singular the premises thereto belonging or in anywise appertaining. To have and to hold the land hereby conveyed and the appurtenances unto the said James C Jackson his heirs and assigns forever and the said Henry Neal and Martha his wife their heirs and assigns the above described tract of land and premises unto the said James C. Jackson his heirs and assigns against the claim or claims of all and every person or persons whatsoever and will forever warrant and defend by these presents. In Testimony whereof the said Henry Neal and Martha Neal his wife have hereunto set their hands and annexed their seals the day and date above written his Henry x Neal Seal mark her Martha x Neal Seal mark Commonwealth of Kentucky Nicholas County Court I (Clerk's name--I can't figure it out) clerk of the County Court for the County aforesaid do certify that this deed from Henry Neal and Martha Neal his wife, to James C. Jackson, was on this day produced to me in my office to me in my office, And acknowledged by the said Henry Neal to be his act and deed. And the said Martha Neal being examined by me privily and apart from her husband declared that she did freely and willingly seal and deliver said writing and wishes not to retract it: and acknowledged the said writing again shown and explained to Her, to be her act and deed, and consenteth that the same may be recorded.
