She was 80. Funeral service for Mrs. Jackson was Friday, September 8, 2000 at Concord Baptist Church, Flat Lick, Kentucky, with Rev. Larry Sowders, Rev. John Partin and Rev. Shane Nickell officiating. Burial was in the Gray Cemetery at Sandy Branch, Kentucky. Pallbearers were her grandchildren. Honorary pallbearers were friends and neighbors of the Jackson family. In addition to her parents, William and Mable Duncan Leath, she was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Harold G. Jackson, who passed away June 4, 2000; son Harold Winston; daughter, Gwendolyn Rebecca; a granddaughter, Sally Kay; twin brother Arthur, and brothers, Harvey, Mitchell, Hubert and Jesse; and a sister Anna Milich. Edith Leath Jackson was born November 29, 1919 in Bell County, Kentucky. She was a retired store clerk, a member of the D.A.R., Knox County Chapter. She attended Concord Baptist Church for many years, and served as W.M.U. director, music director, Sunday School teacher, custodian, Vacation Bible school director, and she directed the Christmas play for many years; and was a member of Riverside Baptist Church at Fourmile, Kentucky. She was united in marriage to Harold G. Jackson on December 31, 1939. Left to cherish her memory are her sons and daughters-in-law, William S. (Sam) and Angela Kay Jackson, Wilburn (Wil) and Karen Genell, all of Flat Lick, KY and Arthur A, (Ott) and Sharon Kaye, Miami, AZ; seven grandchildren, Samuel Todd and wife, Paula Marie, Arthur Clay and wife, Tara Lynette, Leah Genell, Andrew Jefferson, Aaron Curtis, Adam Lee Garrett, and Jared Wilburn; three great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Kay, Carley Maria, and Aubrey Ann; a sister, Emma Hamby of California; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Hopper Funeral Home, Barbourville, Kentucky was in charge of arrangements.
