James.Jesse.1979.Pike.OBIT JESSE JAMES PEYTON'S CREEK - Jesse James, 74, of Peyton's Creek, died July 29 at the Church of God in Pikeville. Born March 11, 1905 in Pike County, he was a son of Nelson and Sarah Adams James. He was a retired miner and a member of the Church of God. He is survived by his wife, Roxie Chaney James; two sons, Troy James and Jeroid James, both of Peyton's Creek; a son, Virgil James, preceded him in death; a daughter Verna Justice of Pikeville; four half-brothers, Ralph James and Clinton James, both of Millard, Rufus James of Shelbiana and Clinard James of Red Creek; two sisters, Lettie Belcher and Lillie Mays, both of Regina; five half-sisters, Rushie Harris of Red Creek, Hattie Sexton and Lisa Church, both of Peyton's Creek, Lizzie McCurry of Powell's Creek, and Tilda Thacker of Beaver; 11 grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Chapel of Justice Funeral Home with Curtis Justice and other officiating. Burial will follow in the Anna E. Young Cemetery at Shelbiana.
