                     SYLVIA THACKER (JAMES)

HARDY, KY- Sylvia Thacker James, 68, of Hardy died Tuesday, August 24, 1993,
at her home following a sudden illness.
     Born October 22, 1924, at Pikeville, she was preceded in death by her
parents, Charlie and Ida Hall Thacker; four brothers, Sammy, Floyd, Normal 
and Curtis Thacker.
     She was a retired cook for the Pike County Board of Education and a
member of the McAndrews Church of Christ.

Survivors include her husband, Victor James, Hardy; son Jackie James of 
Hardy, brothers Estil Thacker and Buster Thacker, both of Pikeville; 
sisters Pebble Tucker and Patty Ann Justice, Pikeville; one grand-daughter 
and two great-grandchildren.
     Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Rogers Funeral Home of
Belfry.
     Visitation: After 6 p.m. tonight at the funeral home.
