Born: Glasgow KY Son of the late Garner Miles and Ruth Byrd Carver Jewell Retired from Eaton Corporation, farmer. Member Peters Creek Baptist Church in Lucas since 1954. Veteran of the Korean Conflict, U S Army, awarded two Purple Hearts. Life member and commander of the DAV, Chapter #20 in Glasgow. Life member Chapter 146 Purple Heart Military Organization in Louisville KY, member of the POW-MIA MilitaryOrganization in NC. While serving as commanding officer for DAV Chapter #20, also an Honor and Color Guard. Since being organized in1982, he has performed some 1,300 military funerals and 1,400 other military ceremonies such as school programs, courthouse ceremonies and parades in addition to driving veterans to and from the VA hospitals in Louisville and Nashville.
