JOHNS, EDWARD RAY - age 78, of Oak Ridge, died Wednesday morning, July 24, 
2002, at the Methodist Medical Center. He was born October 18, 1923, in 
Middlesboro, Ky., the son of Robert B. Johns and Bartie Ellen Marcum Johns. 
He was a Veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Army. Mr. Johns has 
been a resident of Oak Ridge since 1943, and was a member of the '43 Club. He 
is a member of Central Baptist Church, where he was active with the 
'Go-Getters' and he was also a member of the Oak Ridge Lions Club. In earlier 
years, he also served as a Boy Scout leader for many years. He enjoyed 
photography and painting in oils - particularly landscapes. In addition to 
his parents, he was preceded in death by 4 sisters and 3 brothers. He is 
survived by his wife of 54 years, Lillian Lucille Griffith Johns; sons, Gary 
Edward Johns of Powell, and Dr. Donald R. Johns of Boston, Mass., and 
granddaughter, Nicole Elise Johns of Boston, Mass., and several nieces and 
nephews. Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 26, 2002, at 8:00 p.m. 
at Weatherford Mortuary with Rev. Bob Gray officiating. Graveside services 
will be held on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at Oak Ridge Memorial Park. The family 
asks that any memorial contributions be made to Central Baptist Church, 130 
Providence Road, Oak Ridge, TN 37830. The family will receive friends on 
Friday from 6:00- 8:00 p.m. at Weatherford Mortuary, Oak Ridge.
