He was born Feb. 5, 1920, in Manring, Tenn., a son of the late Robert B. and Bartie Marcum Johns. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Harrogate, where he served as a deacon for 40 years. A veteran of World War II, he had been the owner of Warren P. Rash Wholesale Company in Middlesboro for over 60 years. He was a member of the Kiwanis Club. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 57 years, Dorothy E. Johns. Survivors include his sons and daughters-in-law, Allan and Darlene Johns, Bill and Ina Johns, all of Harrogate; granddaughters and their husbands, Shannon and Terry England, Harrogate, Jodi and Brent Pursifull, Pineville, Lisa and Todd Haley, and Ashley Johns, all of Harrogate; grandsons Jerry and Shawn Johns, Harrogate; seven great-grand- children; brother and his wife, Edward Ray and Lillian Johns, Oak Ridge, Tenn.; and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be conducted at 8 p.m. today at Coffey Funeral Home, Harrogate Chapel, with the Rev. Arnold King presiding. Burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Meador Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jerry Johns, Shawn Johns, Brent Pursifull, Terry England, Garry Hall, and Mike Hansard. Honorary pallbearers will be Howard Smith, Rev. Ken Clendaniel, Roscoe Davis and Jay Walker. Visitation is from 6-8 p.m. today at Coffey Funeral Home, Harrogate, Tenn., which is in charge of arrangements.
