Johnson, 77, of Nancy Drive will be 2 p.m. Saturday at West End Church of Christ by the Rev. Mike Crowe. Burial will be in Bellevue Cemetery. He died Wednesday at his home. Born July 21, 1924, in Boyle County, he was the son of the late Arthur and Laura Tarkington Johnson. He was a salesman for Stuart Powell Ford and recognized as a 300 and 500 Club Master Salesman of Ford Motor Co. He attended West End Church of Christ and had been member of the 1942 class at Danville High School. He was a member of American Legion Boyle Post 46. He was a World War II Army veteran. He was a corporal and served after the war in Occupied Japan to help to form the new Japanese government. He also was a member of Old Bridge Golf Club and a former member of Dix River Country Club. Survivors include his wife, Ruth Baugh Johnson; a daughter, Peggy Bechtold of Greenville, S.C.; a brother, Joe A. Johnson of Danville; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Stuart Powell, Gary Gibson, Clyde Jackson, Bill Zagar, Skip Hogue, Andy Pungratz and Don Mize. Honorary pallbearers are Dr. William Pesci, George White, Jim Crouch and employees of Stuart Powell Ford. Visitation is after 4 p.m. Friday.
