OBIT: Cordie Mayes Johnson, 1982, Barren Co. Submitted by Sandi Gorin NOTE: I have no connection, no further information and am not seeking additional information. "Ms. Cordie Mayes Johnson, 92, died Thursday, April 8, at Homewood Nursing Home, Glasgow from a heart attack. She was a ntive of the Lamb-Tracy section, daughter of Thomas and Ann Slaughter Mayes. She was the widow of the late Charlie Johnson. She is survived by a sister, Mrs. Rose Woodcock of Glasgow and four nephews and two nieces who live in other states. She was a most industrious woman, and judging by the large number who attended the funeral at Hughes Funeral Home, she had many friends. On her recent 92nd birthday she was given a dinner at the nursing home, which she appreciated and enjoyed. She andher sister, Mrs. Woodcock were very close. Services were conducted by Bro Fleemer, a former pastor of Tracy Methodist Church of Morgantown. Pallbearers were Jim Bewley, Charles Lee Carver, Alec Woodcock, Billy Calvert, Gene Wood and Ed Pursley. Burial was in Union cemetery under the direction of Hughes Funeral Home. Mrs Woodcock, who is in her 90th year, is most active, and m! aintains her living quarters in Glasgow. She visited the funeral home twice and attended the funeral. Our sympathy is extended to her.
