Born April 27, 1949, in Boyle County, he was the son of Vada Mae Johnson of Junction City and the late James W. Johnson. He was the former owner of Johnson's Cab Company and a self-employed truck driver. He belonged to Westlyn Church of God. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Dorothy Mae Johnson. Additional survivors include his wife, Natalie Rowland Johnson; six sons, Ivay L. Johnson Jr. of Moreland, Shane Presley, Jeremy Thomasson and Robert Merriman, all of Junction City, and Gary and Michael Merriman of Gadsden, Ala.; two daughters, Melinda Godbey and Kelly Johnson, both of Moreland; one brother, Stanley W. Johnson of Junction City; five sisters, Barbara Morgan of Bryantsville, Linda Clarkston and Brenda Bowen, both of Stanford, Clara Lynn of Junction City, and Janie Cox of Frankford; and three grandchildren. Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Stith Funeral Home. Burial will be in Parksville Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-9 p.m. Monday. Memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice or to Shriner's Children's Hospital, Lexington.
