Tuesday, September 4, 1979, McCreary County Record:
Effie Jones, 49, Rt. 1, Stearns, died Aug. 27 at her home following an illness 
of months. Funeral services were conducted Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Wolfe Ridge 
Baptist Church with Rev. Herbert "Bud" Perry and the Rev. Robert Jones 
officiating. Burial was in Sammy New Cemetery./  Born Aug. 20, 1930, in 
McCreary County to the late Nim and Cora Dunagan Watters, she was married to 
Fred Jones, who also preceded her in death. She had lived here for years and 
was a housewife./  She is survived by seven children; Lawrence, Clyde, 
Stanley, Ardell and Carl Jones, all of Rt. 1, Stearns; Viola Maxwell and 
Christine Jones, Norwood, Ohio; three grandchildren; four brothers, Ray 
Watters, Rt. 1, Stearns; Jim Watters, Amherst, Ohio, James Watters, 
Logansport, Ind., Speedy Watters, Weatherford, Texas; four sisters, Etna 
Watters and Etta Hill, Rt. 1, Stearns, Easter Keene, Mooresville, Ind., and 
Bonnie Morris, Weatherford, Texas./  Hickman funeral Home was in charge of the 
arrangements.
