Submitted by Karen Jorgensen Ensign Eugene A. JONES, 22, son of Mr. & Mrs. Deering Jones of Exie, drowned in the Patuxent River on Thursday, Aug 23. The accident occurred at Lower Cedar Point, Maryland, while he was working with the U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey. He apparently became dazed after accidentally bumping his head and falling into the river. Jones received his Commission in the Coast and Geodetic Survey in March of this year. He was a 1962 graduate of the University of Kentucky with a degree in Civil Engineering. He was a student member of the American Society of Civil Engineers and was formerly employed by the U. S. Corps of Engineers. Besides his parents he is survived by two sisters, Mrs. David Sunn, Bowling Green. And Miss Tara Jones, Exie. Funeral services were held Sunday at Greasy Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Eutre Hammett and Rev. Manley Towles officiating. Burial was in the Church Cemetery. Pall bearers were Bernie Blakeman, Tommy Vanarsdale, Tommy Mills, Jerry Rogers, Dick Mills and Larry Mills. ______________________________
