Jones July 31, 1852 - unknown Larue-Green County KyArchives Biography Author: Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, Volume 1 DR. JAMES C. JONES was born July 31, 1852, in Green County, Ky., and is the first of six boys and three girls, all living, born to Harrison and Eliza Jane (Graham)Jones. Harrison Jones was born near Danville, and was reared a farmer in Green County. In 1854 he moved to New Albany, Ind., where he engaged in draying and wagoning. At the beginning of the war he returned to Green County, where he engaged in running a thresher, and also a farm, which he has since conducted. In politics he was a Whig before the war, but since has been independent. He is a son of William Jones, who married Susan Lamb, respectively natives of Maryland and Boyle County, Ky. William Jones was a farmer and saddle- tree maker, and came to Boyle County about 1800, and then moved to Green County. He was a soldier, and was in the historic battle of New Orleans. Mrs. Eliza Jane Jones was a daughter of Robert and Elizabeth (Young) Graham. Dr. Jones was reared in New Albany, Ind., until his parents moved to Green County; was educated in the common schools of Green County at at Munfordville Academy, and at the age of twenty-two left home and traded in stock two years, after which he rode as deputy sheriff seven years, and during his official life read medicine. In the winter of 1883-84 he attended the Louisville Medical College, after which he located at Buffalo, La Rue County, where he has since been successfully engaged in his chosen profession. In politics the Doctor is a Democrat, and cast his first presidential vote for Tilden.
