Rone Richard Jones was among the most prominent and useful ministers in the Little Bethel Association during his brief ministry. He united with the Grave Creek Church in Henderson County in 1822. He was licensed to preach in 1829 and ordained in 1835 by the same Church. At the last named date he entered into the constitution of Little Bethel Association, among the churches of which he was a zealous and effective laborer for a number of years. In 1839 he was chosen to labor as Missionary of that Association, succeeding Elder William Morrison. He later moved to Muhlenberg County and united with the South Carrollton Church at its constitution on June 28, 1851. Previous to his coming to Muhlenberg County he had served the following Churches in the Gasper River Association: Beaver Dam, 1847; Nelson Creek, 1841-1846 and 1848-1849; and Pond Run, Ohio County, 1843-1844. He was present at the organization of Mt. Carmel Church in 1849. The records of the Daviess County Association show that he was a messenger to this Association from the Gasper River Association in 1846 and preached to this body on both days of the meeting. He also pastored Buck Creek Church in the years 1850 and 1851. About the year 1850 he was appointed as agent for the Indian Mission Association, a position he was occupying at the time of his death. On his way to the meeting of the Gasper River Association at Hazel Creek Church in Muhlenberg County, in 1851, he was taken ill at the home of James Collier, and after a few days illness he departed this life on October 11, 1851. No further particulars of his life have been found.
