Born Dec. 4, 1910 at Camp Nelson, he was the son of the late Thomas William and Martha Elizabeth Sewell Kelley. He was retired from J.C. Penney Co. and had also worked at The Hub. He attended Centre College and the University of Kentucky and earned a bachelors degree from Western Kentucky University. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and was a 60 year member and past master of the Franklin Lodge #28, F. and A.M., Danville. He was a former deacon in the First Christian Church, Junction City, and a former teacher and coach at Junction City High School. He was also a former member of the Danville City School Board. Survivors include a son, Joe W. Kelley of Orlando, Fla.; a daughter, Emily K. Chambers of Greer, S.C.; and eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys Kelley. Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday by the Rev. Doug Wesley. Burial will be in Bellevue Cemetery. Pallbearers will be David Bibb, Randall Riley, Brad Chambers, Brent Chambers, Phillip Dawes and William Leslie Kelley. Honorary pallbearers will be the staff of McDowell Place. Visitation will be after 5 p.m. Monday at Stith Funeral Home. ______________________________
