Mystic (Special)--Charles Roscoe Kyes [sic], the son of John William and Katherine A. Keys, was born Dec. 5, 1886. Passed away Sunday afternoon, May 22, 1938, age 51 years, 5 months and 17 days. On the 13th day of September, 1914, he was joined in Holy wedlock to Miss Anna Ula Adkisson, daughter of Babe and Emma William Adkisson, of near Paynesville, who survives. To this union were born five sons, Dwight Vanburan, Dewey Marvin, Lester Hutcherson, Cosby Jennings, James Eldred, two daughters, Eunice Christian and Opal Lee Keys, all of whom survive. He is also survived by his mother, Mrs. Katherine A. Keys, of Lodiburg; four brothers, Lonnie Keys, of Lodiburg; John Keys, of Valley Station; Everett Keys, of Lodaga, Ind. and Clyde Keys, of Tell City, Ind., four sisters, Mrs. A.G. Dowell, of Irving, Ill.; Mrs. Ann Tabor, of Lodiburg; Mrs. Everett Shaw, of Brandenburg and Mrs. Virgil Payne of Lodiburg. He was preceded in death by his father, John William Keys, a brother Hubert Keys and an infant brother, Sherman Keys. He professed ftaih [sic] in Christ and united with the Walnut Grove Baptist Church early in life, and lived a devoted member, later in years he brought his membership to Dry Valley Baptist Church of which he has been a Christian worker, faithful at all times with his family to attend each service. He was a devoted husband and father, one whose life was spent for his family, his friends, and his Master. He was born and reared near this place--a well known citizen, lived most of his life in this community. He was a good neighbor and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Fourteen years of this life was spent in ill health, yet he toiled on faithful and tried to help with the farm work where he had spent his days. After a period of suffering he was called to his reward where his soul now rests. He bore his suffering with much patience. He loved to read his Bible and when he got so he was not able to read it himself he would have his wife and children to read to him. All that loving, faithful hands could do to soothe the pain and save his life was done both by his devoted wife and family, but God had a place for him to rest where pain and sorrow is unknown. Funeral services were held at Walnut Grove Baptist Church at 11 a.m. Tuesday conducted by Rev. Varble. Burial was in Walnut Grove cemetery with Masonic rites, Att. Fred Morgan, of Brandenburg, was master of ceremonies. The pallbearers were his two brothers-in-law, Ellis Adkisson and Virgil Payne, and four brothers, Lonnie Keys, John Keys, Everett Keys and Clyde Keys.
