"A little four year old boy, son of Mr. Mark King, died a few years ago after a short, painful illness. It was rumored that he had eaten prickly pears which caused his death. His throat was inflamed, but as his mouth was not sore it is thought that he did not eat any although he handled the prickly pear, causing his hands to be much swollen. The disease that he died of is thought to be diptheria."
