Kiper, 76, of Bloomington, IL, died Saturday, November 24, 2001 at his residence. Mr. Kiper was born February 14, 1925 in Louisville, the son of the late Ezra and Della Eskridge Kiper. He married Bess Dye on June 19, 1968 in Bloomington, who survives. He drove the Bloomington City Lines for 10 years and then went on to Eureka-Williams and retired from there after 20 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II where he was a P.O.W. in Germany, and received three Bronze Stars, a Purple Heart, Good Conduct Medal, WW II Victory Medal and an American Theater Ribbon. Surviving other than his wife are three daughters, Beverly Brickey, Bloomington, Debra Freeman, Kemp TX, Tracy Gresham, Lincoln, IL; a brother, Edgar Kiper, Hudson; seven grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Services were held at 10am Wednesday, November 28, at East Lawn Funeral Home, Bloomington, with the Rev. Randy Perry officiating. Entombment was in East Lawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Military rites were conducted by Normal American Legion Post 635.
