The family relocated to this area in KY around 1790. James died 21 Jan 1857. In the year of 1781 James Kirk enlisted for the battle of York Town under Captain William Hardin. James also participated in the ultimate capture of Lord Cornwallis. James was first married to Ann Horton, and, later in his life to Mahala Chamberlain. James along with, who is thought to be his brother, Henry Kirk are found together on several County documents from around 1790. Henry’s first wife died around 1850 and he then relocated to Knox County, IN and later died in 1815, Gibson County, IN Submitted by: Ben Kirk ben21@cox.net Additional Comments: The family cemetery is located on the old Bernard Clark Farm which is located one mile north of the township of Lebanon, Marion County, KY. The coordinates are: Latitude N 37 36’ 00”, Longitude W 85 15’ 45”. The Clark farm has changed hands several time and is now in the hands of a developer named Mr. Mike Gootee.
