He was born August 18, 1916 a son of the late James Knuckles and Lillie Napier Knuckles. He was retired from the Straight Creek Mining Company. He believed in the Baptist Faith. He was a loving and devoted father and grandfather. He loved to ride his horses and he lived life to the fullest. All that knew him loved him. He was a very special person and will be missed dearly. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Hilda Saylor Knuckles; dear children, Kathy Knuckles Messer and Randel Knuckles and grandson-in-law, Jeremy Partin. Left to mourn his passing is his daughter, Rossi (Tony) Baker of Pineville, a son, James (Charlene) Knuckles of Pineville, two special granddaughters he raised as his own, Shawna Louise Messer Partin and Monica (Mike) Hatfield, both of Pineville; granddaughter, Danella (Alan) Gambrel of Pineville and grandsons, Anthony Scott Baker and Randel Christopher Jones, both of Pineville; great-grandsons, Michael Martin Hatfield, Randel Jones, Jr. and Kevin Hensley, all of Pineville; great-granddaughters, Olivia Lauren Gambrel and Cameron Michelle Jones, both of Pineville; brothers, Clayborne Knuckles, Joe Knuckles, Bob Knuckles, Ray Knuckles and Leonard Knuckles; sisters, Hazel Jones, Dorothy Spears, Ellen Porter and Mellie Woolum and numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends and relatives. Services were Tuesday at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home with Rev. Hubert Baker and Rev. Jim Woodring. Burial was in the Pinelawn Memorial Gardens, Pineville. Pallbearers were Gary Dale Ramey, Raymond Gibbons, Mark Green, Deerone Rice, Scott Callebs and Clifford Jones. Honorary Pallbearers were Dr. Steven K. Morgan, Paul Parker, Bill Henderson, Goldie Brock, Elsie Yeary, Jackie Barlow, Jackie Jones and Laura Daniels and the nurses and staff at the Pineville Community Hospital.
