Estill - Gabriel Lackey May 8 1857 Garrard County KyArchives Deed Written: May 8 1857 Recorded: August 27 1857 Book U, page 262 For and in consideration of the Sum of nine thousand dollars, to me in hand paid, the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged, I have this day bargained and Sold, and by these presents do bargain, Sell and convey unto James W. Estill, a certain tract or boundary of land, lying and being in the county of Garrard and State of Kentucky, on the waters of Paint Lick creek, and bounded as follows, to wit, Beginning at a Beech on a hill Side, corner to Nicholson, thence West down the hill 18-3/4 poles to a rock at the fallen corner a Beech on the West bank of Lick Creek by the road, thence up Said branch S23W 8 poles to a rock near the branch, thence S40W 52-1/4 poles to a large black walnut on the road, hollow at the root, thence S14-1/2W 23-3/4 poles to an Rock by an Elm on the road West of the branch, thence S4E 14 poles to a Stake on the branch, thence East nearly one pole to a Rock, thence S8E 78-1/2 poles to two hickories, near Said branch, thence S52W 37-1/2 poles to Terrills old line, thence S4E 178 poles to a Sugar tree near a Sink hole corner to Leasure, thence N89E 76 poles to a Dogwood, maple and white Oak an agreed corner, thence N8E 160 poles to a Stake in a lane, thence N60E 79 poles to a Plum bush near a branch, thence S74E 6 poles to a walnut, thence N10E 114-1/2 poles to a Stake on Nicholsons line, then N78W 50-1/2 poles to a rock near a branch, thence N13E 54 poles to a Stake at the turn of a lane, thence West 80 poles to a Stake near a marked Sugar tree, then S44W 20 poles to the Beginning, containing 268-1/2 Acres, be the same more or less. To have and to hold said tract or boundary of land, together with all the appurtenances thereof to him the Said Estill his heirs & assigns forever, and I warrant the title. In Testimony whereof, I Gabriel Lackey together with Hannah Lackey my wife, have hereunto Signed our names and affixed our Seals this 8th day of May 1857. Mason, Clerk of the County Court for the County aforesaid, do certify that this deed from Gabriel Lackey and Hannah Lackey his wife to James W. Estill, was produced to me at the house of said Lackey in Said County on the 8th day of May 1857 and acknowledged by the Said Gabriel Lackey and Hannah Lackey his wife to be their act and deed according to law. Said deed was this day again produced to me in my office for record. Whereupon the Said deed together with this certificate hath been duly admitted to record in my office.
