She was born on February 3, 1907 a daughter of the late Hugh and Marinda Lawson Meredith. She was a believer in the Pentecostal Faith and had been a homemaker. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ewell Lawson, son, R.J. Lawson, brothers and sisters, Sam, Hugh, and James Meredith, Edward Taylor, Harlan Shively and Molly Lawson. Survivors include her children, Tressie Gibson of Stoney Fork, Mollie and Glenn Pratt of Lexington, Mabel and Lynn Whitaker of Lenoir, TN and Golden Lawson of Knoxville, TN; grandchildren, Imogene Lawson, Everett Knuckles, Glenda Survant, Glenn Pratt, Greg Lawson, Angie Warren, Joey Whitaker, Stevie Whitaker, Tonya McChesney; thirteen great-grandchildren and two great-great- grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. Services were held on Friday, January 3, 2003 at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home. with Rev. Jeff Baker and Rev. Thea O. Carter. Music was provided by Lester and Louise Saylor. Burial followed in the Green Hills Memorial Gardens, Middlesboro. Pallbearers were family and friends. Honorary Pallbearers were Nurses and Staff of PCH 1st South and Dr. Jai. Arnett & Steele Funeral Home, Pineville were in charge of all arrangements.
