LAY, age 81, of 1002 West Avenue, Charles Town, West Virginia (Jefferson County), died at his home Wednesday, June 21, 1961. He was a retired employee of the Naval Ordinance Plant, and a member of the Calvary Baptist Church, and the Masonic Lodge. Mr. LAY was the son of Ben and Rachel LAY, who lived at Stephensport, Ky (Breckinridge County). He was a school teacher in early life, having taught the Walnut Grove School about 1897 or 1898, and the Argabright School the next year. He is survived by: his wife, the former Cora BEST two daughters: Mrs. George W. BAGLEY of Marietta, Georgia (Cobb County) Mrs. H. N. KRANTZ of Charleston, West Virginia (Kanawha County) one son: Carroll T. LAY of Summersville, West Virginia (Nicholas County) one sister: Mrs. Claude PIERCE of Urbana, Ohio (Champaign County) 6 grandchildren and one great grandchild (NOTE: There was no burial information in Herman's obituary) Submitted by: Peggy Russell meemawpeg7@gmail.com Additional Comments: No stone was found for Herman LAY in the Breckinridge County Cemeteries, volume one, published in 1991. He must have been buried in West Virginia. HIS FATHER: Cedar Hill Cemetery, located high on a hill, west of the city of Stephensport, Ky.
