Elizabeth Smith esmith@montgomery.k12.ky.us Bath Co., KY Deed Book I Page 385 Leach To } Deed Butt This indenture made and entered into this 11th day of August 1834 between John Leach of the one part and James Butts of Kentucky witnesseth that and in Consideration of Seventy five Dollars to him in hand paid the receipt where of is hereby acknowledged the Said Leach doth Bargain Sell and Convey to the said James Butts his heirs and assigns forever a Certain tract or parcel of land lying and being in the County of Bath on the waters of Slate Creek and bounded as follows Beginning at a honey locust and Elm Carters north line thene South 20 poles E 54 poles to two ash trees and Coffee nut thence S 105 poles to an iron wood in Goodpasters line thence E 58 poles to a black ash and -?- thence 186 to the Begining it being a part of James Garrards five thousand survey to have and to hold the aforesaid tract or parcel of land with all the appertenances thereunto belonging to him the said James Butts his heirs or assigns forever I the said Leach doth warrant and defend the aforesaid tract or parcel of land against himself his heirs Executors or assigns forever and against the Claim or Claims of no other person or persons whatever it understood that if the aforesaid tract of land should be lost or taken by the Claim of the Said Leach then the said Leach is to refund the purchase all paid money without interest for all or such part as shall bee So lost or taken away by any Suit in law or Chancery in testimony whereof the Said John Leach has hereunto set his hand and Seal this date above wirten the sixth line in the John Leach Seal first page is interlined [This may refer to the original deed, as it does not appear that any line is interlined.] Bath County } Sct..
