Lester being feeble in body but sound in mind do make & ordain this my last will & testament on this the 15 day of March in the following manner of form towit: Item 1st_ I give to my beloved wife Mary Anna Lester one negro girl named Catherine; two notes on J.B. Lester for one thousand dollars each due the 1st of March 1854 and 1855; One note on same for three hundred dollars due 1st of March 1854; one note on Wm F. Cheaney, Charlotte Cheaney, & John A. Hatchitt for sixty dollars due 1st of January 1854; one do on W.H. Overby for one hundred dollars due 1st of January 185-(date in margin illegible but probably 1854) and one on B.F. Lester for one hundred dollars due 1st January 1854; one horse & buggy, one gold watch and chain; also all my household furniture of every description all of the above named property notes I give to my wife to do as she pleases with. Item 2nd_ I give to my brother J.B. Lester two negro boys Sam & Patrick Item 3rd_ I give to my nephew Whitfield A. Lester infant son of J.B. Lester, my negro woman Juda & her two youngest children Leonard & Arthur. Item 4th_ I give to my half sister Isadora Cooksey my negro woman Lizza and her child Belle. Should the said Isadora Cooksey die in her infancy or without any lawful heir of her body then it is my will that my brother J.B. Lester should have the negroes willed to her. Item 5th_ I will to my mother E.E Cooksey ten dollars in money. Item 6th Whatever money is left after paying my just debts I wish to be spent on my own and father's grave by enclosing same with stone or brick wall. Lastly I nominate and appoint my wife Mary Anna Lester and my brother J.B. Lester execut(rest of word in margin) and executor to this my last will and testament. Wm A. Lester seal witness J.D. Lester deceased was produced and proved in open court according to law by the oath of J.D. Hatchitt and Wm E.
