Submitted by Sandi Gorin NOTE: I have no connection, no further information and am not seeking additional information. "Death of John Lewis, Sr., "The death of John Lewis, Sr., which occurred at the residence of his son, Gen. Joseph H. Lewis, in this place on Saturday morning last, weaves another link between the living present and the misty past. No man was better or more favorably known in this seciton, in the commercial, industrial and social interests back a quarter centry than was Mr. Jack Lewis. He was full of pluck, energy and enterprise and man in all his business transactions prompty and thoroughly reliable. His indomitable energy and business integrity were manifest in everything he undertook and his influence was of that communicable sort that stimulates those within the circle of association. An old gentleman who knew him for three score years and ten remarked to us Monday that Jack Lewis was a man of the noblest impulses, and that sympathy for the poor man never flagged. His illness was long and his condition was painfully helpless existence after having been for nearly sixty years a resident of Barren county. He was buried on Sunday afternoon in the new cemetery in the presence of friends, who had gathered to pay the last sad tribute to one they had been warmly attached in life and in death sincerely mourned."
