I, Thomas Maddox of the County of Woodford and State of Kentucky, being of sound mind and memory but not knowing that these blessings may continue long do make and order this my last Will and Testament (hereby revoking all others) in the following words and figures to wit: 1st I give to my wife Sally Maddox the entire possession of my whole property consisting of a tract of land on which I live containing one hundred and forty-five acres and six Negro slaves named Daniel, Josephine, Anderson, Charity, Ann, and Polly to be held and enjoyed by her during her life with the right if she chooses to sell any of the Negroes. I also give her my chattel Estate to dispose of as she pleases. 2nd I wish it ascertained what I have heretofore given each of my children and at the death of my wife an equal division make among them of my property including what each has heretofore received except the infant son of my son Thos Maddox dec’d to whom I give but half a child’s part which it is to receive upon reaching the age of 21 years.
