"Glasgow, Barren county were inexpressibly shocked with news of the death of Mr. Joseph Thomas (Squire) Mansfield, 68, at his home near Woodburn, in Warren County, Monday around 5:45 p.m. He had been in declining health some time and critically ill the past few days. Death was caused by diabetes and complication. "Born and reared in the Bristletown section, Mr. Mansfield resided in Barren county until two years ago when he moved to Warren county with his son, Mr. Walter Mansfield. Long prominent in politics, he served eight years as Magistrate and two terms as Jailer of Barren County, and was one of the most widely known citizens of the county. "He was a member of the Cedar Grove Baptist Church, having professed faith when a young man. Mr. Mansfield's influence among fellow citizens in business, religion and politics was strong and constant. His advice was continually sought and his good judgment in all matters was always highly regarded. "Besides his son, Mr. Walter Mansfield, he is survived by his wife, Mrs. Annie Mansfield and two grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted at the Crow Funeral Home Wednesday morning at 10 o'clock, the Rev. Walter Church in charge. Burial was in the Glasgow Cemetery.
