Mansfield 1876 Barren-Allen County KyArchives Obituaries Unknown/undated newspaper DIED. Sunday, August 20th, 1876, Judge Wm. Mansfield, in the 72nd year of his age. He was born in Barren Co. KY., January 25th 1805, where he was reared; and spent the early part of his life in teaching school. He was married to Miss Martha Johnston, March 26th, 1826, after which he went into the mercantile business at Ritter's Mill, in Barren County. He moved to Scottsville about the year 1837 when he again engaged in the mercantile business in which he continued for upwards of 21 years, when he was elected a Justice of the Peace, and afterwards to the office of County Judge, which position he held for two terms, since which time he has filled the office of Master Commissioner, being re-appointed at the last term of the Circuit Court. He was an excellent citizen, beloved by all who knew him. As an official, he was kind, courteous, and obliging; as a Christian, he set an example worthy of imitation by all and his death makes a broken link in society, not easily filled. His bereaved family have our heart felt sympathy, and most profound wishes for their welfare."
