She was born on May 1, 1937 in Balkan, KY the daughter of the late Lillie Ada Owens Mills and Rufus Mills, Sr. She was a member of the Corbin Presbyterian Church. She was a 1955 graduate of Bell County High School and a 1956 graduate of the Knoxville Business College. She had been a bookkeeper for the First State Bank, Commercial Bank and Delaware Powder. Helen was a great supporter of the University of Kentucky. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Rufus C. Mills, Jr. Survivors include her husband, George Phillip Martin, children, George Phillip Martin, Jr. and his wife Bridgett of Huntsville, AL; Dr. Jeanne Martin and her husband, Rupert Sherratt of Corbin and John Sheridan Martin and wife Robyn of Somerville, AL; grandchildren, Nicholas, Caitlyn and Peter Martin; sister, Elizabeth Fuson of Longwood, FL and sister-in-law, Edna Mills of Pineville and a host of nieces and nephews. Services were Friday at the First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Paul Henschen. Burial was in the Pineville Memorial Cemetery. Pallbearers were Nicholas Martin, Peter Martin, Russell Mills, Sam Martin, Bob Martin and George Martin. Arnett & Steele Funeral Home, Pineville, was in charge of arrangements.
