RAY MATTHEWS
 
Ray Mathews, 68, of Pineville, passed away on Sunday, March 23, 2003 at the 
Middlesboro Appalachian Regional Hospital.  He was born in Wallsend on 
December 9, 1934 to John and Matilda Hendricks Matthews.  He was of the 
Pentecostal Faith and had been a press operator for Arrow Plastics in 
Circleville, OH.
    He was preceded in death by a son, Terry Lynn Matthews, brothers and 
sisters, Elizabeth Gilliam, Lillian Matthews, John, Ralph, Bruce and Sam 
Matthews and half brother Andrew Buell.
    Survivors include his daughters, Sharon Betts of Chillicothe, OH, Rosemary 
(Rev. Bill) Dunn, Becky (David) Matthews and Sherry Matthews, all of 
Pineville, Joyce Matthews and Melissa Warren, both of Middlesboro, twelve 
grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, a half sister, Roberta Denny; special 
friend, Wilma Jackson, and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
    Services were Tuesday at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home with Rev. Bill 
Dunn, Rev. Clyde Patterson and Rev. Roger Sharp.  Music was by Amanda Baker 
and Frances Sharp.  Burial was in Pinelawn Memorial Gardens, Pineville.
    Pallbearers will be Bill D. Dunn, Chris Matthews, Jon Matthews, Lawrence 
Smith, Jr., James Fergerson, Jay Skinner and David Patterson.  Honorary 
Pallbearer was Steve Matthews.
    Arnett & Steele Funeral Home, Pineville, was honored to serve the Matthews 
Family.
