Tuesday, July 31, 1973, McCreary County Record:
Ledford Maxwell, 49, Hill Top, was dead on arrival July 21 at Somerset City 
Hospital from a shotgun wound in the chest./  The son of Mrs. Susie Tucker and 
the late David Maxwell, he was born January 24, 1924, at Denny in Wayne 
County. He was a resident of McCreary County for most of his adult life and 
was employed as a coal miner./  Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Violet Clark 
Maxwell of Hill Top; two sons, Lester Maxwell and David Maxwell, both of 
Sidney, Ohio; four daughters, Mrs. Carolyn Troxell, Mrs. Janet Hill and Miss 
Donna Maxwell, all of Hill Top, and Mrs. Katherine Shook of Marshes Siding; 
two brothers, James Maxwell of Alexandria and Lander Maxwell of Hill Top; four 
sisters, Mrs. Edna Couch of Somerset, Mrs. Lena Martin of Detroit, Mrs. Bertha 
Maggard of El Monte, Calif., and Manda Maxwell of Florida./  Funeral services 
were held July 25 at the family residence with Rev. Roy Lewis officiating. 
Burial was in the Wilson Ridge Cemetery with Hickman Funeral Home in charge of 
arrangements.
