Sherrer January 20, 1865 Warren County KyArchives Deed Written: January 20, 1865 Recorded: February 7, 1865 Warren County, Kentucky Deed Book 30, pages 588-589 This Indenture made and entered into this 20th day of January 1865 by and between Reuben C. Sherrer and Hester J. Sherrer his wife of the first part and Jesse S. McGinnis of the second part all of Warren County Ky. Witnesseth That the parties of the first part for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred and twenty five dollars to them in hand paid the Receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath this day bargained sold, Conveyed and delivered and by these presents doth bargain and sell to the party of the second part a certain tract or parcel of land lying in Warren County Kentucky, on the Waters of Barren River and bounded as followeth (to wit) Beginning at a beech and Spanish Oak on Higginbothams line running thence N16W 85 poles to a forked Elm on Skinners line thence S87E 20 poles to a double Ironwood thence N6-1/2W 34 poles to a honey Locust thence N65W 19 poles to a white oak thence North10W 26 poles to a sugar tree cedar and Hickories on the bank of the Barren River thence up the River S64E 117 poles to a sugar tree and Spanish Oak James Higginbothams Corner thence with his line S40W 126 poles to the beginning Containing forty acres more or less. To have and to hold the aforesaid tract of land with the appurtenances thereunto belonging to the only proper use and benefit of the party of the second part his heirs &c forever. And the partys of the first part doth hereby bind themselves their heirs &c to warrant and defend the title of the land hereby Conveyed free from the claims of all persons whomsoever. I, James H. Rose clerk of the County Court of said County do certify that this deed from Ruben C. Sherrer and Hester Jane Sherrer to Jesse S. McGinnis was on the 23d day of January 1865 produced to me in my office and proven by the oaths [of] T. C. Horton and W. H. Cherry the subscribing witnesses thereto to be the act and deed of the grantor Reuben C. Sherrer and on this day the same was acknowledged by Hester Jane Sherrer to be her act and deed and the same being stamped as required by act of Congress and that I have recorded said deed with this certificate in my office as required by law.
