From: KyArchives [Archives@genrecords.org] Sent: Thursday, October 28, 2004 9:16 PM To: Ky-Footsteps Subject: McGinnis-to-McComb.1818.Mercer.DEED2 Thomas McComb - John McGinnis December 31 1818 Mercer County KyArchives Deed Written: December 31 1818 Recorded: December 31 1818 Deed Book 11, page 117 This Indenture made this 31st day of December 1818 Between John McGinnis of Mercer County and State of Kentucky of the one part & Thomas McComb of the same County & State of the other part Witnesseth that for and in consideration of the said Thomas McComb having for Seven years and upwards lived with taken care of and laboured for the said John McGinnis and Margaret his wife and for the further consideration of the Sd. Thomas having this day by an Instrument in writing engaged to continue to live with take care of labour for and decently and plentifully Support the said John and Margaret so long as they or either of them Shall live and in the further consideration of the sd. Thomas McComb having this day obliged himself to pay and consent to Thompson Simpson and Elizabeth Davis two poor orphans now living with said John Fifty dollars each when they shall have arived at proper age to receive the Same and Shall faithfully have Served out their apprenticeship togeather with Such free ????? as they or either of them Shall be entitled to by Indenture and for the further consideration of one dollar by the said Thomas McComb to him the said John McGinnis in hand paid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged he the said John McGinnis hath bargained and Sold and by these presents doth bargain Sell and convey to the said Thomas McComp and his Heirs and Assigns forever a certain tract or parcel of land in said County of Mercer It being the same land whereon the said John McGinnis now lives and bounded as followeth To wit Beginning at a Sugar tree & Dogwood corner to James Stags thence South 6W with fromans land 97 poles to two white Oaks & hickory thence W with Hugh Smiths line 126-1/2 poles to a Dogwood & hickory in Smiths line thence N 97 poles with Jacob Harlans line to a Spanish Oak Stump thence East with Staggs line 176-1/2 poles to the Beginning containing Seventy four & a half acres more or less it being the whole of that tract conveyed to sd. John by Jacob Froman with the appurtenances To have and to hold the said tract or parcel of land with its appertenances unto the sd. Thomas McComb and his Heirs and Assigns forever to his and their only proper use and behoof and the said John McGinnis for himself his heirs &c the said Tract or parcel of land with its appurtenances unto the said Thomas his heirs & against the claim or claims of all and Every other person and persons whatosever claiming by from or under him will warrant and forever defend with this condition nevertheless that they the said John McGinnis and Margaret his wife are not to yield up the possession of the said land or any part thereof to the said Thomas McComb or any other person whatsoever under him during their natural lives or the life of either of them but they the said John McGinnis and Margaret his wife are to continue have hold and occupy the said land & premises during their lives & the life of Either of them in the Same full free and entire use thereof as if this Indenture had never been executed and this said Thomas McComp to take possession thereof at the death of the longest liver of the said John and Margaret & not before.
