He was born in Pineville September 7, 1924 and had been a former resident of Louisville. He was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force serving in World War II and the Korean War as First Lieutenant and pilot. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Morristown, TN. He had served as President for Kentucky Blue Cross Blue Shield, and was a past president of the Kentucky Mountain Laurel Festival and past president of the Kentucky Jaycees. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Louise McKinney of Rutledge, TN; daughter, Barbara and Jerry Benware of Louisville; son Len and Connie McKinney of Louisville; grandchildren, Pvt. Tyler White, USMC of Camp LeJune, NC, Spenser White and Eric McKinney; sister Mrs. Christine Wilder of Memphis, TN. Funeral services were Tuesday, June 29 at the First Methodist Church in Morristown with Dr. Darris Doyal and Rev. Ellen Fisher officiating. Graveside services were Wednesday, June 30, at the Pineville Memorial Cemetery with full military honors by the U.S. Air Force and the American Legion Dewey Guy Post #14 of Middlesboro.
