KY Deed Bk C, p 85 Melton; Mattingly; This Indenture made this 1st day of October one thousand eight hundred and four Between Thomas Melton and Anna his wife of Washington County and State of Kentucky of the one part and William Mattingly of the County and State aforesaid of the other part WITNESSETH that the said Thomas Melton and Anna his wife for and in consideration of the sum of Five Hundred Dollars Current money of the state afsd. To them in hand paid the rect. whereof or do hereby acknowledge have bargained and sold and by these presents do grant, bargain, sell Allen and Confirm unto the said William Mattingly his heirs and assigns one Certain tract or parcel of land lying and being in the County afsd. And on the head Waters of Stewarts Creek a branch of the Bolling Fork containing one hundred acres of land more or less and bounded as follows to wit. Beginning at two dogwoods and black oak thence due west one hundred poles to black and white oak thence south one hundred and sixty poles to two dogwoods and mulberry thence east one hundred poles to an ash and dogwood thence north one hundred and sixty poles to the beginning together with all and singular it appurtenances thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining To have and to hold the said land and premises with all and every the appurtenances to him the said William Mattingly and to his heirs &o forever to the only proper use and benefit and behoof of him the said William Mattingly and his heirs &o forever and the said Thomas Melton and Anna his wife doth further covenant and agree to and with the said William Mattingly that they the said Thomas Melton and Anna his wife will forever Warrant and Defend the said tract or parcel of land from all every claim or claims of all and every person or persons Whatsoever to him the said William Mattingly his heirs &o. In witness whereof we have hereunto set our hands and affixed our seals this day and date above written.
