Will Page 1 1822 Garrard County KyArchives Photo - Document Source: Unavailable Photo can be seen at: http://www.usgwarchives.org/ky/garrard/photos/documents/mershonf51ph.jpg Image file size: 240.9 Kb I Furnace Mershon of the County of Garrard and State of Kentucky being advanced in years-but in reasonably good health and of sound and disposing mind & memory do make and publish this my last will and testament hereby revoking and annulling any and all other wills which I may have made. 1st I wish my Executor hereinafter named-as soon as practicable after my death, to pay off and discharge all my debts and legal liabilities including my funeral expenses. 2nd I will and bequeath to my niece Philis Ann Foster, the sum of two thousand (2000) dollars to be paid to her by my Executor and I also give her my gold watch. 3rd I will and bequeath to my nephew S. P. Love the sum of ($2000) two thousand dollars to be paid to him out of my estate. 4th I will and bequeath to my nephew John Mershon the sum of one-thousand ($1000) dollars to be paid to him out of my estate and I also give him my mare & colts. 5th I will and bequeath to Nancy and Mary Love, daughters of S. P. Love the sum of one hundred dollars each to be paid to them out of my estate. 6th I will and bequeath to Mrs. Jane Love, wife of S. P. Love the sum of one hundred dollars to be paid by the Exr. 7th I will and bequeath to John P. Mershon son of John Mershon the sum of two hundred ($200) dollars to be paid to him out of my estate. 8th I will and bequeath to Mary Walter daughter of John Mershon the sum of one hundred dollars to be paid her by my Exr. 9th I will and bequeath to Kitty Ann wife of John Mershon the sum of one hundred dollars to be paid her out of my estate. 10th If-after the payment of the above legacies and debts & funeral expenses- including a plain & not stone to mark my grave, there be anything left out of my estate-I will and bequeath any and all of such remainder-to my nephew S. P. Love. I hereby nominate and request my nephew S. P. Love to act as my Executor to carry into effect, the several provisions of this will and request the court not to require him to give security on his bond as Executor. I wish it to be understood as a part & parcel of this my last will & testament that if any of the legatees provided for in this will shall charge me any board or for keeping my house the amount so charged shall be deducted from the legacys of the one making such charge. West Clerk Garrard Court do certify that the foregoing instrument of writing ______ to be the last will and testament of Furnace Mershon deceased was produced to the court at the August adjourned term (Aug 1875) and proven by the oaths of Dr. S. S. Burdett and W. H. Wherritt two subscribing witnesses thereto by the true last will and testament of said decedent, said Burdett and Wherritt also of proving the sanity of the testator whereupon the same was approved confirmed, and ordered to record as the true last will and testament of furnace Mershon, decd, and which has been done this 1st Sept 1875.
