She was born on March 23, 1930 in Bell Co. Kentucky, The daughter of the late Roy Gibson and the late Daisy Mae Moody Gibson. She was a homemaker and believed in the Baptist Faith. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Messer, her son, Floyd Edward Messer, her daughter, Sadie Marie Messer, her brother, Sherman Gibson, her grandmother, Eitigann Moody, her grand daughter, Laura Suezzan Messer, her grandson, Christopher Bryan Scott Messer. Left to mourn her passing are the following members of her family: four sons: James Messer and wife, Marlene of Cheyenne, Wyoming, Theo Messer and wife Sheila of Seymore, Tennessee, Raymond Messer and wife, Serena of Pineville Kentucky and David Messer and wife, Elizabeth also of Pineville, Kentucky. Three daughters; Barbara Partin of Middlesboro, Kentucky, Brenda Cobb and husband, Wince of Seymore, Tennessee, and Lisa Sloan and husband, Ronnie of Pineville, KY, A brother, Russell Gibson of Florida. A sister, Wanda Abner of Pineville, Kentucky 14 Grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren, and a host of other friends, relatives and loved ones. Funeral services for Mrs. Messer were conducted Thursday, October 7, 2004 at 2:00 pm at Creech-Durham funeral home with Rev. Theo Messer and the Rev. Arthur E. Jackson officiating. Music was provided by her grand daughter Judith Hume and Billy Baird. Pallbearers were Roger Shell, Davy Messer, James Wayne Sloan, Darryl York, Mike Barlow, David Messer, Johnny Messer and Theo Messer, Jr. Dr. Steve Morgan was an honorary Pallbearer. Visitation was Wednesday from 6-10 at the Creech Durham Funeral Home Chapel. Creech-Durham Funeral Home of Pineville, Kentucky was in charge of all arrangements. Burial was at Wallsend Cemetery in Pineville, KY.
