Born October 27, 1917, in Four Mile, KY he was the son of the late William and Dora Carmack Miller, Mr. Miller was veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Selfridge as a Radarman in both the Atlantic and Pacific Theaters of operation. He was a retired coal miner, retiring from Slab Fork Coal Co.'s #10 mine. Mr. Miller was a member of the Glen White Missionary Baptist Church and the United Mine Workers of America. His wife of 57 years, Versie Hatfield Miller preceded him in death on September 20, 2000. He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Andy, Vernon and Homer Miller and two sisters, Neva Smith and Thelma Keller. Survivors include two sons; Ronald W. Miller and wife Jean of Versailles, KY and Gary A. Miller and wife Hope of Crab Orchard; three daughters; Carolyn Mills and husband Delano or Corbin, KY, Brenda Ward and husband Greg of Glen White and Vickie Ballengee and husband Jack of Glen View; nine grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren; two brothers: Don Miller and wife Carol of Milwaukee, WI and Paul Miller and wife Vina of Carrollton, KY and by three sisters: Gladys Blattenburger, Della Jones and Hazel Monor all of Knoxville, TN. Funeral services were conducted 11:00 AM Friday, December 5, 2003 at the Melton Mortuary Chapel with Pastor Kenneth Parent officiating. Burial followed in the Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.
