Submitted by Debbie Dicken Taylor Ex-Farmer, Sanford Minor, Is Dead Special to The Courier Journal Campbellsville, Ky., Dec. 2 - Sanford Minor, 76, retired farmer of the Spurlington community of Taylor County, died at Rosary Hospital here today after a short illness. He was a deacon of Liberty Baptist Church for many years and a member of Spurlington Masonic Lodge. Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Clyde Wise Minor; two sons, Leslie Minor, Hobart, Ind., and George Minor, Danville; two daughters, Mrs. Charles Hill, Omaha, and Mrs. Floy Mitchell, Campbellsville; a sister, Mrs. Maggie Campbell, Campbellsvillel a half-sister, Mrs. Annie Newton, Louisville, and a half-brother, John Minor, Spurlington, and two grandchildren. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Liberty Baptist Church, near Spurlington. The body is at Parrott & Ramsey funeral home. Services Held for Sanford Minor, 76 Funeral services for Sanford Minor, 76, were held Tuesday, December 4 at 2 p.m. from the Liberty Baptist Church with the Rev. Gilbert Sapp, D. R. Druien and J. Chester Badgett in charge of the services. Burial was in the Union Ridge Cemetery at Spurlington. The pallbearers were Jack Hill, Alva Puryear, Goebel Spurling, Oliver Wise, Almond Wise, and Everett Harmon. The honorary bearers were Hayden Bowles, Ira Wise, Walter Wise, John Railey, Will Jones, Marion Wise, Bob Wise, Ike Wise, Robert Wagoner, Shelby Trautman, Omer White, John B. White, Albert Caulk and Ingram Caulk. Minor, son of the late George W. Minor, Sr. and Mary Hogan Minor, was born October 30, 1880 in Taylor County, Ky. He died Sunday, December 2 at 7:45 a.m. at the Rosary Hospital, following a short illness. He professed faith in Christ at an early age in life and was a member of the Liberty Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon for many years. He was also a member of the Andy Bowen Masonic Lodge 670 at Spurlington. He united in marriage to Miss Virgie Spurling in 1903 and she preceded him in death in 1909. To this union two sons and one daughter were born. Surviving are Leslie H. Minor of Hobart, Indiana and George Minor, Jr., of Danville, Ky. In 1913 he united in marriage to Mrs. Augusta Wright Caulk and she preceded him in death in 1936. To this union two daughters were born. Surviving are Mrs. Charles Hill of Omaha, Nebraska and Mrs. Floy Mitchell, Campbellsville. In April 1942 he united in marriage to Miss Clyde Wise, who survives. Besides his wife and children, he is survived by one sister, Mrs. Maggie Campbell, City; one half sister, Mrs. Annie Newton, Louisville; one half brother, John Minor, Spurlington.
