In regard to the Battle of the River Raisin in Michigan in 1813 after the capture of (our Grandfather Thomas Ransdall Moore) and the Company he was with, the Indians began tomahawking them after they had given up their arms. Our Grandfather called to the British officer in command and asked him how a man born of woman could allow such atrocities to go on, and the British officer replied "Who are you that dare address a British officer in that manner?" he said " I am a Kentucky Volunteer," and then said "Give us back our guns and we will stop them." About that time they did manage to stop them in some way. Our Grandfather was a small man and they had to hold him up when he made this speech Submitted by: Sandra Gage Date: Thu, 22 May 1997
