The Sandlin's were from York Co. S.C., but later moved to Ky. The surname Sandlin is Scottish in origin, and in Scotland the name was "Sandilands". On Oct.4,1834 Jennie Sandlin married Vincent "Jeff" Morris at the age of 13. In Jackson County, Ky, Vincent and Jennie Sandlin Morris lived at Sand Gap. Vincent and Jennie Morris had 15 children: John H. Morris, Lewis Morris, Sally Morris (married Jeremiah Sparks), Job Morris, Wm. In August 1909, an article appeared in "The Berea Citizen" Berea Ky. newspaper--AUNT JENNY MORRIS OF SAND GAP HAS 580 DESCENDANTS. A re-print of this article appears in the October 1993 issue of "The Kentucky Explorer" magazine. Today there countless descendants of Vincent and Jenny Sandlin Morris in Jackson and other area counties in Kentucky. It seems that most have remained in Kentucky.
