Wills. Will Book C P. 282 I, John Morton of the County of Woodford and State of Kentucky do make and appoint this my last will and testament in the manner and form as follows, to wit, I lend unto my beloved wife, Sarah Morton the whole of my estate during of her widowhood. I give unto my daughter, Lucy Haydon a Negro woman named Tenah to her and her heirs forever and no more of my estate. I give unto my daughter Ann Rucker a Negro woman named Hannah and her increase and a Ten pound horse and no more of my estate. I give unto Frances Watts forty pounds to be paid to her in eight different payments, that is, five pounds per year until that sum is discharged. I give unto my granddaughter Lucy Morton, daughter of William Morton one Negro Boy named Moses, but in case that she should die without a heir lawfully begotten of her body in that case the said Boy shall return to my six sons hereafter mentioned to be equally divided among them. It is further my will and desire that the remaining part of my estate shall be equally divided between my six sons, viz. James Morton, Jeremiah Morton, John Morton, Benjamin Morton, William Morton, and Thomas and it’s further my will and desire that my Negroes shall not be separated, but that there shall be a true and real value laid on them and that James Morton and John Morton shall receive their full and proportional part of said Estate. One half of their part in cash and the other half in property such as appertains to said estate. It is my desire that my wife and my two sons, Jeremiah and William Morton shall act as Executors. October Court 1810 This the last will and testament of John Morton Dec. was produced in court proven by the oaths of Wm. Christopher, Spencer Gill, And Geo. Hufford and ordered to record whereupon Jeremiah Morton and William Morton two of the Executors therein named came into court an took the oath prescribed by law and entered into and acknowledged bond in the penalty of $500 with John Williams and John Morton their security conditioned according to law, probate is granted them in due form.
