Photo shows burial site of Pleasant "Pleas" and Nancy "Nan" Catherine Moses at 
Old Wolf Creek Cemetery at Baptist Church, Wolf Creek, Whitley County, 
Kentucky. 
Pleas was born 19 Mar 1838, Whitley County, Kentucky, son of Joshua II and 
Anna Hackler Moses.  He was a twin to Elias.  On 12 April 1865, he married Nan 
in Campbell County, Tennessee. Nan was born 30 Oct 1844.  They resided in 
Whitley County, Kentucky and were the parents of 6 children: Sam (1866-1931), 
James Franklin (1868-1944), George Mattison (1870-1914), Hampton Leander (1877- 
1920), William Elliott (1879-1962), and Rosa (1886-1939).  
Pleas and Nan also raised the children from Pleas' first marriage to Calestine 
Goins (1834-1865).  Pleas and Calestine had been married 31 Aug 1856 and their 
children were: Emeline (1857-1928), Andrew Jackson (1858-1946), "Little" Elias 
(1861-1894), Louisa (1862-1939) and Elizabeth "Lizzie" (1864-1936). 
After Pleas died 09 Aug 1889, Nan raised both her children and her step- 
children.  She died 21 Jan 1920.  Pleas and Nan are buried together at Wolf 
Creek Cemetery.  (Calestine Goins Moses is also buried at Wolf Creek Cemetery 
near Pleas and Nan.) 
Inscribed on Tombstone of Pleas and Nan: GONE FROM OUR HOME BUT NOT FORGOTTEN
